Our group project is about nanorobots in the human brain.
You can download from here.
What is nanorobot?
It is a tiny machine that can be as small as blood cells, even less than them.
How do we inspire this project?
Our projec is based on the brain-machine interface (BMI). It completes the neurons losing their connection abilities artificially. For example, robotic hand can be solution for people losing their limbs. In terms of nanorobots, they will create connection between the human brain to super computers.
Why do we choose nanorobots as our subject?
NBIC (nano-bio-info-congo) technologies will provide many opportunities in the near future. In this image, you can see that nano supports all the other things above it. That's why we give importance the nanorobots in our project.
What is our purpose?
Our aim is to produce nanorobots and inject them to the human brain to analyze and enhance the human brain.
How will injection occur?
Because of nanorobot's infinitesimal structures, they can be sprayed by nasal spray to reach the brain.
How do nanorobots work?
One day, person having nanorobots inside brain encounters the disease. Nanorobots will immediately send messages to any telecommunication devices ranging from mobile phones to desktops. Then, to analyze the data, they will send messages to super computers. After that they will feedback and will say that your hormone level is above the average and if you wanna cure it, you should download 'special' program with a little charge to your iPad. Finally, you will transfer the software from iPad to nanorobot in the human brain.

WEEK 11 - THE ROBOTIC HAND PROJECT
Robotic Hand Project
View more presentations from ozseyhan.
The robotic hand project is our final project. It is related to bioengineering and art of engineering lesson, as well.
I prefer to use transparent pipes for fingers, kitchen sponge for palm, fishing line for connecting hand joint and metal wire for stability.
First, I cut pipes with utility knife. Then, I stitched the fingers like hand joints. I used the metal wire in order to move the fingers. The fingers are added the sponge. Finally, I used transparent glove to provide homogeneity.

WEEK 10 - STORY BOARD
................................My "TOLAZO" Project.................................
My project name is "TOLAZO" which derives from two layer zones. It will help cool the donors' organs while carrying. Also, special bacteria producing He-based materials will be used.
My inspiration comes from the temperature of soda. I went the market to buy a soda in a sunny day. "Drink cold" notation is written on the soda bottle; however, it was not cold. Why is not the soda cold enough to drink pleasurably? Then, interesting idea came to my mind about soda. My major was biofilm engineering and my group and I could solve the problem at molecular level.
Our plan was to create genetically engineering bacteria that eats helium based food as reactants and produces substances like liquid helium. As you know, liquid helium provides much cooling. After that, we observed that our resultant substance could create layers, in other words biofilm.
I thought that it should be two layers for cooling the soda; first layer for bacterial cooling system and other including airless area to protect bacteria from heating. When I considered the costs of the system, there was no need to fridge and vehicles.
If I compared normal and „TOLAZO‟ bottles, latter one was preferable in the long run because it would diminish the cost of electricity for cooling. Yet, costs for only one soda were very prohibitive and anyone desired to purchase it.
My group members said that "TOLAZO" project can be used for covering boxes of organ transplantation. I agreed this idea because it made sense. People needing the organs could afford the process and did not want to jeopardize. Nothing is more important than human health.
Finally, we created special transplantation boxes with bacteria keeping organs cold long time. Then, we turned the corner with my group.

WEEK 3 - PERSPECTIVE
We learned that we could not perceive at one point. There are two points for perception that are point of view and escape point. The former one creates an escape point at horizon. The property of horizon concerns with limitation of perception.
Escape point is the place which your eyes see at Renaissance. Thus, artists put eyes symbol at escape point. Leonardo da Vinci is symbol of our lesson (art of engineering). His works showed that he connected art and science one another.
In order to understand the structure of an object, we should analyze components of it. We should not draw it by imaging the object, visualizing in our brains. For instance, all the apples are not the same. Every apple has different and original properties.
I drew chairs taking the perspective into consideration. My first draft has some faults about perceiving the correct angle. However, I learned how to do the best. Then, I drew beam to understand angle of beams. Also, I drew two perspective of glass front one and horizontal one.
After that, I drew organic materials such as pepper and mandarin. Finally, I drew pliers, scissors and hand to understand the function of them.

WEEK 2 - DRAWING EXERCISES
First of all, we learned how to hold the pencil because it is vital to draw shapes and lines. We can visualize pencil as a pigeon. It means that if we hold pencil strictly, our pigeon can die; on the other hand, if we hold pencil so soft that it can fly easily. As you can guess, holding the pencil should be done with average power.
The second thing we did was drawing exercises. The optimum angle between paper and pencil should be 45 degrees. Then, we drew different size of circles, ellipses and squares. In addition, we should use our hand without twisting.
Another thing that deserve some words is that how to perceive our environment. There should be a point of view of our picture, which was exemplified in the renaissance similar to eye figure. Moreover, the existence of horizon line is related to borderline of our percept. Then, we talked about "perspective deformation" providing unity to our perceived surrounding.

WEEK 1 - INTRODUCTION
It was the first time to encounter “Art of Engineering” lesson. Our lecturers are Assistant Prof. Dr Yüksel Demir and Assistant Prof Dr. Oğuz Haşlakoğlu. We began this lesson talking the relation between science and philosophy. Thales questioned that how and why universe exist. There are some basic substances which are called arché of universe such as water.
Then, we talked about ontology and epistemology. The former one concerns with being of things. The latter one concerns with knowledge and searches the conditions.
The starting point of universe is “wonder.” Up to Pathos, universe starts with essence of wonder. Today‟s science & art agree that people don‟t live without the past.
The important questions are asked “How did the art start?” and “Why do people draw Picture in caves‟ wall?” We thought that it could be symbol of immortality, awareness of mortality or the special type of communication. Oğuz Haşlakoğlu said Kahta (Göbekli Tepe) located in Adıyaman included cave having engraving pictures as an example.
Our next title was elements of art. Lines are unique part of art. Mr. Haslakoğlu drew a circle on the board and asked us what it was. Everybody told him it was a normal circle; however, it was not. We learned that circle on board is representation of circle; because, there is no line in nature.
Another vital subject was difference between sign and symbol. We can consider park sign as a sign; because, everyone can understand all meaning of sign when they look at it. On the other hand, swastika is a symbol; because, it represents genocide in Germany, but in India, it means longevity. The reason is that everyone can remember symbols, yet the underlying reasons are unclear.
There is also difference between concept and percept. White pigeons can be understood providing the picture of it is showed. However, if we write “P”, the meaning may be various such as peace or pigeon.
